I am only 26 weeks prego but I was wondering what is the longest time I can wait after I start having signs of labor. I just want to be in the hospital the shortest amount of time possible when it happens. I would have home delivery but my insurance won't pay for it. Thanks!

i think your supposed to wait until the contractions are 5 minutes apart.

untill your waters break or your contractions are 5 min apart , i rang the hospital when my waters broke and they told me to come straight in they checked to see how dilated i was and said i wouldnt be having my baby untill tommorow any way 2 hrs later i was holding my baby so its lucky i didnt wait to go because by the time i started feeling labour i was pushing

some people say, wait until your waters break, but i wouldnt recomend that. with My first child my waters never broke at all, he was born actually still in his water sac. with my second, my waters broke and she was born 10 mins later. every birth and labour is different.

They say stay at home until your contractions are 5 minutes apart. Sometimes if you go in to early it can slow down and even stop labor. It's just because your in a different surrounding and your body reacts to that. Unless of course there's a problem then you go in earlier. And when your waters break you go in so they can see if you have dilated and how far. Alot of the time they will sent you home until contrations are 5 mins apart though. If its your first, don't go until contractions are less than 5mins apart, should be there by time contractions are 2mins apart. Labor varies woman to woman, so when you get to 2mins apart, birth occur at any time, usually within 2-4hrs. Walk as long as you can during labor, really helps move things along.
