ex-girlfriend has refused to give back motor-car. She is registered owner of car on documents and says because of, she says thats its hers to keep!!. I can electronically prove I paid the garage the sum of money from my debit card, I also have a paper receipt. I can also prove that I paid for the insurance from SGI so could I cancel that insurance for the car? The car was not a gift and only registered in her name because I wrongly thought that as a non-resident of canada and without a canadian driving licence I could not be register owner of a vehicle. Being from the uk the law is different for vehicles. Please if anybody could help it would be much appreciated as morally this situation is daylight robbery and to me basically accounts for nothing less than theft!!! Thanks people if anyone can help.

the car is hers BUT you can take her to small claims court and take all the paper work that you can get and you might win

The car is hers. You can take it to court and try to get some of your money back that you have receipts for, but she will end up keeping the car.

Sue her in small claims court my friend. She is legally the owner but she sure sucked you in.Good luck!

If she is the registered owner then the car is hers. The only thing you can do is cancel the insurance and sue her for all the money you already paid into it.
